RUMANA MANSUR, Ph.D.

Clinical Psychologist

My name is Rumana Mansur and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist working in the Orange County area. I have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University. I have completed my APA Accredited Pre-doctoral Psychology Internship at the University of California, Irvine (UCI).

My professional experience spans over a decade in various sectors and dealing with individuals from a wide range of demographics and cultural backgrounds. Over the years, I have trained and worked at college counseling centers, a psychiatric hospital, community based mental health centers and at group practices.

My approach to therapy is to provide a safe, supportive and accepting environment for my clients to share challenges they may be facing. In my work, I start by identifying an attainable goal and understanding my clients’ distress in context. I focus on identifying how their thoughts impact their moods, behaviors, and environment and vice versa. I help with exploring parts that are no longer working, and identifying unhealthy patterns. I assist my client with learning new ways to think and developing new skills. I draw from clients' strengths, knowledge, unique coping and support network to explore possibilities for change and growth.  Additionally, I bring a deep awareness and genuine appreciation for issues related to diversity. I am bilingual and I believe cultural experiences, values, background and levels of acculturation do impact the way individuals experience and express psychological distress.

My areas of special interest include adjustment and stress, anxiety, depression, phobia, unexpected negative life event, past trauma, intergenerational stress, family of origin problems, relationship problems, grief, learning to cope, college student concerns, identity development, cross cultural problems, work, school and career issues. Most of my clients are college students, professionals, managers and executives in government, international organizations and the private sector.
